Mt Evelyn & Districts Financial Services Ltd (MEDFSL) established a Bendigo Community Bank® Branch in Mt Evelyn during May 2002. MEDFSL first returned a profit in 2004 and by 2005 had purchased and paid for the branch building.
MEDFSL was one of the first Community Bank® Branches to register on the Bendigo Stock Exchange in August 2006. This listing transferred to National Stock Exchange of Australia (NSX) in March 2012. In 2019 the company moved to a Low Volume Market where the company looks after the transfer of shares between buyers and sellers. For more information visit our corporate page. The company also moved to an online share registry to enable shareholders to keep their details up to date.
In 2006 MEDFSL paid its first dividend and has since returned over $2.6 million to our community including dividends of approximately $500,000 to shareholders.
In 2009, as recognition of its outstanding contribution and service to community, MEDFSL became only the third inductee into the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s Community Bank® Hall of Fame.
Given its success in the Mt Evelyn region, in 2009 MEDFSL was asked to partner with the Montrose Steering Committee to establish a Community Bank® Branch in Montrose. The efforts put into this collaboration by MEDFSL and the Montrose Steering Committee resulted in the opening of the Montrose Community Bank® Branch in November 2010. We are delighted to announce that MEDFSL completed the purchase the Montrose Branch building in 2012. Following difficult trading and changes to banking practices the decision was made to consolidate the two branches at Mt Evelyn. The last trading day at the Montrose branch was 26 September 2019.
